About Oberon Lane

Oberon Lane is a wedding and event music agency working across Sydney and the Southern Highlands. It was started by Elle May, a full-time performer with more than ten years in the wedding and events industry, and the roster is handpicked rather than open to anyone: acoustic soloists, duos and trios, full bands, DJs, string players, a harpist and saxophone. You choose your artist from their videos once the agency confirms who is free on your date. Packages are built around acoustic and DJ combinations. Solo plus DJ, duo plus DJ and trio plus DJ each cover the ceremony and canapes with live acoustic music, then hand over to a DJ from the start of the reception. There is also a DJ-only option with a five-hour reception set. Strings, saxophone, harp and a dedicated MC can be added for an extra fee. Duo plus DJ is the package most couples take, because it covers the whole day. A package runs up to eight hours, usually from about 3pm to 11pm, and anything past that is charged at $150 per 30 minutes per musician. You pick up to three key ceremony songs and the artist plays them live, timed to the aisle walk, the signing and the exit, with recorded music covering guest arrival. Musicians and DJs bring professional gear plus backups, but they need cover from the weather, so an outdoor ceremony needs a marquee or a sheltered spot. What is set out is the structure: packages cover up to eight hours, typically 3pm to 11pm, and time beyond that is charged at $150 per 30 minutes per musician. A 30 per cent deposit locks in the booking and the balance falls due four weeks before the event. Travel fees may apply outside Sydney and the Southern Highlands.

Performance Details

Artists bring professional sound gear and backup equipment so the music keeps going if something fails. For anything outdoors the performers and their gear need cover, which means a marquee or a sheltered area. On a wedding day the musician covers about 30 minutes of recorded background music as guests arrive, plays your three chosen ceremony songs live, then performs live acoustic sets through canapes. If you have booked a DJ package the DJ takes over from the start of the reception and runs through the rest of the night. Canape sets are sometimes shortened when a venue will not allow early access for reception setup, but there is always music playing. Packages cover up to eight hours, with $150 per 30 minutes per musician beyond that. Duos are established pairs rather than mixed and matched, and some artists offer MC services for an additional fee.

Yes. As well as Sydney and the Southern Highlands, the artists regularly play the South Coast, Wollongong and the Hunter Valley, and they travel interstate. Travel fees may apply depending on the location.

How do we book, and when do we pay?

Once you have chosen your artist and package, the agency sends an invoice for a 30 per cent deposit, which locks in your date. The final balance is due four weeks before the wedding or event.
