About Smart Brothers Brewing
Smart Brothers Brewing is a family-run brewery and taproom on Bray Street in Hastings, looking towards Western Port on the Peninsula. Brothers Ben and Matt brew in small batches on a 1,000-litre system on site, and the taproom pours 14 of their beers. There are two ways to hold a private function. The first is the dining room, which the team cordons off for your group and which seats 50 to 60 guests, while the rest of the taproom stays open to other customers. The second is hiring the whole brewery for 60 to 100 guests. The venue closes to the public, so the bar, the staff and the outdoor beer garden are yours for the event, with costs quoted on enquiry. A function in the dining area costs $2,000, and the full amount comes back as a tab for food and drinks during a four-hour booking. Guests wear wristbands and order at the main bar from the regular menu of wood-fired pizzas and flame-grilled burgers, and staff bring the food out to your area. The function space has a wall-mounted TV for photo or video slideshows from an HDMI device, and you can connect a phone to the sound system to run your own playlist. Birthday cakes are welcome with no cake-cutting fee, and decorations are fine as long as you take them home afterwards.

What does a private function cost?
A dining-area function costs $2,000 in total, and the whole amount is returned as a tab for food and drinks during the four-hour booking. Any tab left at the end is forfeited, and whole-venue hire is quoted on enquiry.
Is there a deposit?
A 20% deposit of $400 secures the date, and the remaining $1,600 is due at least seven days before the function. The deposit is refundable until seven days out.
Can we bring our own food, drinks or cake?
Outside food and drinks are not allowed, but a birthday cake is welcome and there is no cake-cutting fee. Bring your own candles, and for a big group some disposable plates and cutlery, as share plates are limited.
Which days can functions be booked?
Functions run Wednesday to Sunday, usually in four-hour blocks such as 6pm to 10pm. Send an enquiry with your preferred date and time to check availability.
