About Deep Water Lounge

Deep Water Lounge pairs a cocktail bar and restaurant with live piano at 33 High Street in Hastings, on the Western Port side of the Mornington Peninsula. The room is dark and moody, with low lighting, deep teal finishes and a grand piano that sets the tone on music nights. There are several ways to hold a function here. The Rose Room is a private dining room seating up to 20, the bar area takes cocktail events of 50 seated or up to 80 standing, and the restaurant can be booked exclusively for seated groups of roughly 40 to 70. Larger parties can take over the whole lounge, with a minimum of 80 and a ceiling of 150 guests set by the liquor licence. Any group of 30 or more in the bar area has that space to itself for the event. Food comes from a menu that changes with the seasons and leans on Peninsula and Western Port produce. Cocktail events choose from canapés such as kingfish tataki, smoked wagyu skewers and truffled gougères, while seated events run a two or three course set menu with a full pre-order a week ahead. There is no fixed drinks package. Hosts pick a pre-authorised bar spend that turns into a cash bar once it is used, a full host bar, or a cash bar from the start, and each minimum spend covers food and drink together. The functions manager works through timing, styling and drinks with each host, and a 25% deposit confirms the date. Send an enquiry to check availability, including Sundays, when the venue opens for private bookings.

Full venue hire is $12,000 on Friday and Saturday evenings and $8,000 at other times. Canapé packages run from $40 per person for four pieces to $80 for ten, and set menus are $85 per person for two courses or $110 for three.

Food

Cocktail functions choose canapés in advance from a list that includes salmon rillette, kingfish tataki, beef tartare, baked scallops, fried chicken and duck buns. Packages run at four, six, eight or ten pieces per guest.

Seated functions use a two or three course set menu drawn from the seasonal dinner menu, with choices and a seating plan confirmed seven days ahead. Most dietary needs can be met with notice.

Beverages

Drinks are arranged as a pre-authorised spend that becomes a cash bar once reached, an open host bar, or a cash bar. The cocktail list mixes classics with house creations, and the wine and beer lean on local Peninsula producers. Outside drinks are not permitted.

Availability

Functions are planned with the functions manager, and a 25% deposit secures the booking. Sundays are set aside for private bookings and functions, so send an enquiry with your date and numbers.
