About The Darling

The Darling is the five-star hotel within The Star in Pyrmont, and it has collected a string of state tourism awards for deluxe accommodation, most recently in 2025. For a guest flying in for a wedding, a milestone birthday or an evening function, it offers a polished, quiet base: the hotel runs a no-party policy, so the rooms stay restful for people who have spent the night celebrating elsewhere. Every bathroom is stocked with Jo Loves toiletries, and a concierge can help before you arrive with restaurant bookings, shopping and local ideas. The entry-level Darling rooms come with a king bed or two twins, and an accessible king room is available. Their tall windows face either Pyrmont's mixed streetscape or the pool deck. Jewel Suites add separate living space and look towards the skyline, Adored Suites wrap the view around two sides, and Stellar Suites have extra ceiling height, having taken over a whole floor, with outlooks towards Balmain and Glebe. At the top, the Junior Penthouse, Penthouse Suite and Penthouse Suite Deluxe have a large dining table, plenty of seating and a full kitchen, and the hotel can arrange a private chef on request. The hotel stands on the corner of Pyrmont and Union streets, and the site puts it about ten minutes from anywhere in the CBD. The Star complex also houses an event centre, the Sydney Lyric Theatre and the Foundry Theatre. Guests park in the self-park garage, entered from Pirrama Road or Edward Street, or use valet from the Jones Bay Road driveway. The Level 5 pool is heated to 26 degrees and open 8am to 8pm, and the Level 2 spa has 11 treatment rooms, a steam room and a jacuzzi.

Self parking for hotel guests is $50 per night. Valet parking is $85 per night Sunday to Thursday and $95 per night on Friday, Saturday and public holidays, and oversized vehicles are $135 per night. Smoking in a room brings a cleaning fee of $350 to $650 depending on the room category.

Check-in is 3pm and check-out is 11am, with express check-out available and luggage held for early arrivals. The hotel has been fully smoke free since September 2022; smoking areas are outside the building. Pets are not permitted. The Darling has a no-party policy and asks guests to keep noise down out of respect for others staying. The heated outdoor pool on Level 5 opens 8am to 8pm daily with food and drinks in the warmer months, and the Level 2 gym is open 24 hours for guests aged 16 and over, with closed shoes required. The day spa opens 9:30am to 7pm every day. Joggers can pick up water, towels and running maps at reception.
