Clear allPadstow, in Sydney's south west, is home to In Cucina Cooking Academy, an Italian cooking school on Gow Street. The school has been teaching for around ten years from a recently renovated kitchen and event space, and its speciality is cooking in wood-fired ovens. Classes began with pizza, sourdough and other breads, meat and seafood, and now take in pasta, gnocchi, risotto and pastry as well. The focus is on home-style dishes you can make again in your own kitchen, and for a birthday, hens or bucks group, anniversary or work team, a private class finishes with everyone sitting down to the meal they cooked.
What to know before you book:
The public pizza class starts from $150 per person, and the wood-fired meat and seafood class starts from $180 per person. For a private class you can keep to one of the standard menus, combine a few, or have a menu written for your group, and everyone goes home with a laminated copy of the recipes. Birthday groups get a small surprise added on the day. Public classes are for over-16s.
