About Pacific House Hostel

Pacific House Hostel occupies a heritage-listed 1892 building on Sir John Young Crescent in Woolloomooloo, which has served as a temperance hotel and a city hospital. Australian designer Tamsin Johnson refreshed the whole interior in soft blues, greens and greys, with murals by Tabitha Hope. The Domain is 50 metres away, and Circular Quay, the Botanic Garden and Darling Harbour are each about 1.5 km on foot. Every room looks out over the park or the city. The hostel runs a dedicated group program for 10 or more people staying at least two nights. It lists girls' getaways and social events alongside student, sport and travel groups. Groups can book private dorms or private rooms, so the group has its own space, and a group coordinator handles the booking from enquiry to check-out. Catering can be arranged, from breakfasts to set meal packages. Rooms run from private doubles to 4, 6, 8 and 10-bed dorms, including female-only rooms, and the largest is the 10-bed deluxe ensuite. Group quotes come back within 24 to 48 hours. Each bunk has three privacy curtains, a reading light, a USB charger and a power point, and each guest gets two lockers. Breakfast is free every morning. Il Pacifico, the licensed cafe downstairs, serves pizza, coffee and draught beer from 7am to 10pm. Check-in is from 2pm and runs until midnight, with after-hours arrivals arranged in advance. Check-out is 10am, and luggage can be stored for the day. Linen, wifi and breakfast (7am to 9:30am) are included. Private rooms include towels, and everyone else can buy one for $8. Air conditioning is in private rooms and most female-only dorms, while other dorms have ceiling fans. The shower blocks are separate for men and women, and there are private bathrooms on each floor. Reception is open 24 hours, and the kitchen, laundry, TV room and study room are open around the clock. Building and room access is by QR code, with CCTV inside and out.
