About Avid Entertainment
Avid Entertainment is a DJ agency based in Newcastle that has been playing weddings and parties since 2010, and it runs a dedicated Central Coast wedding DJ and MC service. Its DJs play open format, keeping things relaxed through dinner before moving across eras and genres, from seventies funk to chart hits, once the dance floor opens. Couples plan their music through an online portal, listing must-plays, songs to skip and the overall feel they want, and the agency pairs each couple with a DJ who fits. Gold, at $1,650, covers up to five reception hours and brings a pair of 15-inch speakers, wash lights, LED effects, a DJ booth in black or white and a cordless mic for the speeches. Platinum, at $2,250, stretches to eight hours with ceremony sound and cocktail-hour music, and Diamond, at $4,800, adds an LED dance floor, TV screens, extra lighting and a two-hour audiovisual show. MC duties can be added for $500, and the booth hides cables and equipment so the set-up sits neatly in the room. Weddings are only part of the calendar: the DJs also play hens nights, engagements, birthdays, work Christmas parties and school dances, and at kids' discos they stick to clean edits and run games. Dry ice, cold sparks and uplighting can be added, and if your booked DJ falls ill, a briefed back-up takes over.

Frequently asked questions
What does a Central Coast wedding DJ from Avid cost?
Gold is $1,650 for up to five hours of reception music, including sound, lighting and a speech microphone. Platinum costs $2,250 and covers eight hours, ceremony audio included, and Diamond is $4,800 with an LED dance floor and AV show.
Can the DJ also MC our reception?
Yes, for an extra $500. The DJ goes through your run sheet beforehand, then makes the announcements, brings in the bridal party and keeps the formalities moving.
Can we pick the songs and set a do-not-play list?
Yes. The online planning portal lets you list must-play tracks, songs to avoid and the general style you like, and the DJ blends those with crowd-pleasers through the night.
What does the DJ need at the venue?
Leave an area about 2.5 metres wide and 2.5 metres deep, close to a power point. The DJ will also need a meal during the event.
What happens if our DJ is sick on the day?
Avid is a team, so a back-up DJ who has been briefed on your timeline, music list and venue can step in and run the night.
