About Weddings by the Beard
Weddings by the Beard is marriage celebrant Lachlan Grisold, based in Melbourne, who has worked as a professional public speaker for more than eight years and grew up a theatre kid. Travel to the Yarra Valley is included in his packages, whether you marry at a winery or among the Dandenongs. Each ceremony is written new for the couple, and he keeps everyone at ease up the front with 10 guests or 200. Booking him brings a welcome bundle: the ceremony builder booklet, his vow pack and a questionnaire about your story. Next comes a planning session, face to face or online, covering the wedding party, entrances, acknowledgements, music, readings, rituals, how you met, vows, rings and exit. He drafts the script over a few weeks, then you both give feedback until it reads right. The full ceremony runs 20 to 30 minutes or longer. It includes a Bose S1 PA with a Sennheiser mic, printed vow cards and the music on the day, and he handles all contact with Births, Deaths and Marriages, lodges the marriage and mails your certificate. A legals-only wedding keeps things short: the two of you, two witnesses, one paperwork meeting and the legal words on the day. His language is neutral and welcoming, and he has written ceremonies that are LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent and disability friendly. Reception MC work is available too, running the speeches, introductions and cake cutting, managing dietaries and dealing with your vendors. Send an enquiry with your date and venue to book.
