About A Stand-up Celebrant
Paul Bonadio, who trades as A Stand-up Celebrant, is a marriage celebrant based in Melbourne and spent his early years on the comedy circuit, including the city's international comedy festival. He has been officiating weddings for more than ten years and does many of them in the Yarra Valley, at places such as Stones of the Yarra Valley, Zonzo Estate, Immerse and Hedgend Maze. Knowing the venues means he can suggest which ceremony spot, chapel or paddock suits your numbers and the light on the day. His ceremonies aim to be a highlight of the day rather than the formal bit guests sit through. He gets to know you both, picks out the small, funny truths of your relationship and plays them up gently, while keeping the sentimental moments intact. He suggests 20 to 25 minutes as a comfortable length, and introverted couples can leave the performing to him. Two options are his own. Pimp My Celebrant lets you choose what he wears from his themed outfits, and Love to LOLs lets you decide the mix of humour and sentiment. Every booking also covers the legal paperwork, his own sound system and microphone, unlimited planning meetings and help writing and polishing vows. If you would like him at the reception, there are two MC packages: one finishes after the speeches, the other runs to the close of the night. It starts with a free consultation over a coffee or a drink, then he gets going on the script and the legals – send an enquiry to book.

Is the ceremony going to feel like a comedy routine?
No. The humour comes from your own story and sits alongside the emotional moments, and the Love to LOLs option lets you choose how much of each you want.
What comes with every booking?
A ceremony script written for you, the legal paperwork, a PA and microphone, as many planning catch-ups as you need and help with your vows. Outfit choice through Pimp My Celebrant is available too.
How long will our ceremony run?
Paul recommends roughly 20 to 25 minutes. That gives enough time to tell your story properly while keeping guests comfortable and attentive.
Can Paul stay on as MC for the reception?
Yes. One MC package covers the reception until the speeches are done, and a second keeps him hosting through to the close of the night.
