About Above 8
Above 8 is a function venue on level 9 of a building on Cross Street in Hurstville, facing Westfield. It operates purely as an events space, so every booking takes over the whole rooftop rather than sharing it with the public. The venue pairs an indoor reception room with a wide outdoor terrace. Inside there are dining tables, lounges and a bar, while the balcony has sofas and fire pits looking across the skyline and out towards Botany Bay. For a seated meal the room holds 60 guests, with room for another 30 on the terrace. A cocktail-style party can run to 100 people across both areas, and the layout shifts between long tables, lounge clusters and standing setups. Catering stays in house, as outside food isn't allowed. Packs run from roaming canapés in three tiers to add-on stations such as a grazing table, seafood, Mediterranean, taco and nacho spreads, or a dessert table, and the menus cover vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and other needs. Drinks come as four-hour packages built around sparkling, white and red wine, bottled beer and soft drinks, with spirits available at extra cost. The package also covers a welcome sign, centrepieces, table numbers, wait staff and an event specialist to help with planning. For speeches and slideshows there are screens, projectors, microphones and fast Wi-Fi. The venue is entirely smoke-free, including vapes, and parking is available on site. How many guests can Above 8 hold?
Up to 100 guests for a standing cocktail party. For a seated event the indoor room takes 60, and the outdoor terrace can seat a further 30.
Will other people be at the venue during our event?
No. Above 8 is booked on an exclusive basis only, so your group has the whole rooftop, inside and out, for the event.
Can we bring in our own caterer?
No, outside catering isn't permitted. The in-house chefs prepare canapé menus and optional food stations, and they can adapt menus for dietary needs including halal, vegan and gluten-free.
Is there AV for speeches or a slideshow?
Yes. Screens and projectors are installed, along with microphones and fast Wi-Fi, and the team can help set up whatever your event needs.
Is smoking allowed on the terrace?
No. Above 8 is a non-smoking venue throughout, and that includes cigarettes, vapes and shisha, both indoors and on the outdoor terrace.
