About Marry Us Gary
Marry Us Gary is run by Gary, or Gazza to most people, who is authorised as a civil marriage celebrant and also works as a wedding MC. He was an electrician, then an actor holding a Bachelor of Performing Arts, and took up celebrancy six months after his own wedding. Celebrancy is now his full-time job, and his list of Mountains venues covers Katoomba, Leura, Blackheath and Mount Wilson. Ceremonies are non-religious and set out to mix laughter with sentiment, with room for cultural or spiritual touches, and he is an outspoken supporter of marriage equality. His personalised package takes care of the legal forms, registering the marriage, and buying and lodging your official certificate. You also get as many calls, emails and Zoom chats as you need, up to two meetings, and a face-to-face planning session where you plan the entrances, the music, the readings and the reception together. Gary helps you write your vows and prints them on cards for the day. He sets up a Bose sound system with a cordless Sennheiser mic and arrives 60 to 90 minutes beforehand to check the rings and greet guests as they arrive. As MC he can follow on from the ceremony or be booked for the reception alone. He starts with a questionnaire about who is speaking, then writes a script and run sheet and coordinates with the venue, caterers and videographers. On the night he covers the grand entrance, the speeches and telegrams, the cake, games, the bouquet toss and the first dance.
