About KFM Media
KFM Media is an audio-visual production company working out of a head office and studios on Barton Street in Katoomba. A crew of production managers, technicians and camera operators – more than ten local staff – looks after sound, lighting, vision and staging for functions of every size. For a modest gathering, the rate card starts with a single powered speaker on a stand, a cabled microphone and an input for a phone or laptop, suited to roughly 10 to 50 guests. A shop item called the Mini Party PA Pack pairs a 1000-watt speaker with a mic and stand for groups of up to about 60. Medium events of 50 to 400 people step up to two speakers, a small mixer and more microphones, and a projector with a screen can be added. Bigger productions draw on a deep inventory: digital mixing consoles, line-array PA for crowds over a thousand, LED par cans, moving lights, followspots, projectors up to 30,000 lumens, LED walls, fast-fold screens, drapes, lecterns and staging. Band rigs and wireless headset or lapel mics are also on the list. The team knows the function rooms of the Mountains hotels and resorts well and keeps floor plans for many of them, so it can suggest a setup quickly. What does the smallest sound package include?
The entry-level audio package is one powered speaker on a stand, one cabled microphone and an input for a phone or laptop. It suits a small gathering of roughly 10 to 50 people and takes up to two inputs.
Do you deliver and set the equipment up?
Yes. Delivery and setup is charged separately, with a flat fee each way within the Blue Mountains, and basic audio setup is included in that fee. The delivery charge is waived when you also book a crew member to operate your event.
Can a technician run the sound and lighting on the night?
Yes. Rack-rate packages do not include an operator, but one can be arranged. The crew includes sound, vision and lighting operators, show callers and bump-in and bump-out staff.
What can you supply for a larger function or live band?
For bigger events there are two-speaker packages with a mixer, band rigs, wireless microphones, line-array PA, LED and moving lights, projectors, screens, LED walls, drapes, lecterns and staging, put together to suit the room.
Do you know the function rooms at Mountains hotels?
Yes. The team has worked in the ballrooms and dining rooms of hotels and resorts around Katoomba, Leura, Medlow Bath and Blackheath, and keeps standard layouts ready for many of them, including rigging limits in heritage rooms.
