About The Ballroom @ Crest on Barkly
Crest on Barkly is a boutique hotel at 47 Barkly Street in St Kilda, tucked behind the top of St Kilda Road. Along with 127 guest rooms and a bar and grill, it runs five function spaces for meetings, private events and celebrations. The Ballroom is the main event room, at 240 square metres, with a 3.5 metre ceiling. It is laid out to suit the event, from long boardroom tables to round tables dressed for dinner. For a sit-down dinner the room takes 250 guests, or 125 at cabaret tables. Theatre seating fits 300, classroom 120 and a U-shape 150, and the hotel quotes up to 700 for a cocktail-style event. When the room is set for a banquet, a dance floor goes in so a reception or milestone party can move from dinner to dancing. The space is soundproofed and the ambient lighting can be adjusted to suit the mood. Presentation gear is built in: an overhead data projector, a retractable screen, an integrated AV system and in-room audio. That makes speeches, slideshows and toasts straightforward. Out-of-town guests can book rooms in the same building, and there is undercover parking on site. To check dates and set-ups, send an enquiry with your guest numbers and the style of event.

Good location. Fair price. Staff were reasonably friendly. Cafe on site was very good. But the serviced apartment could do with many improvements. For example, our kitchen was missing many of the items listed on the mani…

There was mould on the bathroom walls and grout. The complimentary shampoo, conditioner, and body wash had clearly been half-used from previous guests. The toilet did not flush properly, and the shower temperature and ad…
