About Blue Mountains Adventure Company

Blue Mountains Adventure Company is a Katoomba guiding outfit that takes groups abseiling, canyoning, rock climbing and hiking across the World Heritage wilderness of the upper mountains. It started out as a climbing school, was the first local business to run professionally guided canyon tours, and is now part of the World Expeditions travel group. Trips start from its office on Parke Street. They range from half-day abseiling tasters and dry canyon walks to full-day waterfall descents and technical canyons for experienced adventurers. For a party, the private trip is the one to look at. The team sets start and finish times to suit, collects you from accommodation between Wentworth Falls and Mount Victoria or meets you at the trailhead, and changes plans on the day if the weather turns. Bucks and hens groups, birthday crews and friends on a day out all book this way. Corporate programs run from guided abseils, hikes and canyons to search-and-rescue style team challenges. They suit groups of about four to 30, can stretch to 120, and can finish with champagne and canapés at a clifftop lookout. Prices cover equipment, guides, licences and national park fees, and full-day trips include lunch. Bring clothes suited to the weather, enclosed shoes and a water bottle, and the guides can lend basic clothing if you are short. Public introductory trips generally suit fit people aged 13 and up, intermediate trips 15 and up and advanced canyons 18 and over, while private trips can take younger children on easier abseils and climbs. Non-swimmers can pick a dry canyon or stick to abseiling. Send an enquiry to book a private trip for your group.

Frequently asked questions

Can we book a private trip for a bucks, hens or birthday group?

Yes. Private trips are offered for bucks and hens parties, birthdays and days out with friends, with the start time, pick-up point and itinerary all set around your group.

How large can a corporate or team group be?

Team programs are designed for roughly four to 30 people, and the guides can run days for groups of up to 120, from guided abseils and canyons to rescue-style team challenges.

What is included in the price?

All technical gear, qualified guides, licences and national park entry fees are covered, and full-day trips include lunch. You bring weather-suited clothes, enclosed shoes and a water bottle.

Are there minimum ages?

Public introductory trips generally take people aged 13 and up, intermediate trips 15 and up and advanced canyons 18 and over. Under-18s need a parent or guardian's waiver, and a private trip can suit younger children.

What if some of the group can't swim?

Swims in most canyons are short, the wetsuit and pack add buoyancy and life jackets are available. Dry canyon options, abseiling or climbing suit anyone who would rather stay out of deep water.

My daughter and I did the abseiling day in Juggler Canyon, and it exceeded our expectations! Tim was an amazing guide: patient, knowledgeable and went above and beyond. At one point, he even made himself a "human bridge"…
