About Gables on Finch
Gables on Finch is a period mansion on Finch Street in Malvern that operates as a reception and function venue with its own executive chef. Four indoor rooms with art deco detailing open onto manicured private gardens, screened from the street. The Ball Room is the main space, with a high ceiling, large wall mirrors, a heritage-listed stained glass window and a parquetry dance floor. It seats about 110 and holds 150 standing, and the venue quotes up to 200 for cocktail events. Opened up to the foyer, Piano Room and Drawing Room, the house can take more than 250 guests. Three smaller rooms suit more intimate parties. The Piano Room has a grand piano, leadlight windows, a fireplace and an old oak boardroom table; the Drawing Room has parquetry floors and its own fireplace; and the Peacock Room looks through stained glass onto the front garden. Menus come from the house kitchen and can be seated, cocktail, buffet or high tea. Wedding packages run for three, four or five hours and bundle canapés, mains, dessert, drinks, linen and centrepieces, with minimum numbers set by the room you choose. Beyond weddings, the venue hosts milestone birthdays, engagement parties, anniversaries, bridal and baby showers, presentation nights, conferences and graduation dinners. The rooms have audio-visual equipment, and the team can organise a DJ, live band, photo booth or photographer. Send an enquiry to arrange a viewing.
