About Ladybird Design Creative
Ladybird Design Creative is the Wentworth Falls studio of artist and teacher Fran Cane. It sits on the edge of the national park with views over the valley, and the purpose-built workroom is set up for small groups to paint, blend and make together. The main draw for parties is a private paint and sip. Fran picks one image for the session and walks everyone through it step by step, so complete beginners finish with a canvas they are happy to hang. Groups can choose from her gallery of acrylic and watercolour designs, including Australian birds and flowers, the Three Sisters and Monet's water lilies, or send in their own image, such as a pet to be painted pop-art style. Private groups of six to ten paint at the studio, and bigger parties of up to 30 can book Fran to run the workshop at a venue they choose. Guests are welcome to bring their own drinks, while light nibbles, water, tea and coffee are provided, and a grazing plate can be arranged for an extra charge. Other options suit groups that would rather not paint. A natural perfume class has guests sniffing and blending essential oils into a scent and hand cream to take home, and silver jewellery classes for three to five people cover making earrings or a ring from scratch. Fran's own site lists hen's parties, birthday parties, family celebrations, corporate team building and office Christmas parties among the groups she hosts. Frequently asked questions
How many people can come to a private workshop?
Private painting groups of 6 to 10 can be held at the Wentworth Falls studio. Larger groups of up to 30 are hosted at a venue of your choice, perfume groups run for 3 to 15 and jewellery classes take 3 to 5 people.
Can we bring our own drinks?
Yes. Guests can bring whatever they would like to drink. At the studio a small serve of nibbles is supplied with water, tea and coffee, and a grazing plate can be added for an extra cost.
Do we need any painting experience?
No. Fran chooses one picture for the group and teaches it step by step, giving each person plenty of guidance, so first-timers end up with a finished canvas to take home.
Can children join a painting workshop?
Children over ten are welcome when an adult comes with them and both are painting. The studio has no child-minding, so younger children can't be accommodated at a session.
What should guests wear?
Aprons are supplied, but the acrylic paint is hard to remove once it dries, so wear clothes you don't mind getting a little paint on and rinse any splashes straight away.
