About Something Blue Band
Something Blue Band is a wedding and party band based in Melbourne, its young members also gigging around town, and it has performed at receptions in the Yarra Valley. Its set list draws on soul, jazz, R&B and classic rock'n'roll, songs that get guests of all ages dancing, and the singers judge the mood before choosing what comes next. The usual line-up is five players: lead vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass and drums. A six-piece adds saxophone or trumpet, and bigger versions bring two horn players, up to ten musicians in all. Each reception package includes as many as four sets of 45 minutes, the PA, microphones and other equipment, setup and pack-down, and recorded music while the band rests. For the vows there is a ceremony package of a singer plus a guitarist or pianist for as long as an hour, with a PA of two speakers set up where you marry and a microphone for the celebrant. Where an outdoor vineyard spot has no power a battery PA may be available, and players such as percussion, wind, violin or extra guitar can be added. The band knows the traditional horas for Jewish weddings and can play a full bracket of them. You can pick every song or simply name a few you love to set the direction, and because the musicians spend close to seven hours on site, a meal, drinks and somewhere to take a break are appreciated.

Frequently asked questions
Does Something Blue Band play in the Yarra Valley?
Yes. The band has played Yarra Valley weddings and functions. A travel fee may be added for venues outside the metro area, and it will be shown in your quote.
What is the starting price?
Bookings begin at $2,495. The total rises with the size of the line-up, anywhere from five players to ten, and with extras like the ceremony package, so every booking is confirmed by quote.
How much live music do we get?
At least three hours, normally split into four sets of 45 minutes. The band plans the timing with you so the sets fit around speeches, dinner and other formalities.
Do we get a say in the set list?
Yes. Some couples choose every song, but most send a few songs they love to show the feel they want and let the singers take it from there on the night.
What does the band need on the day?
The musicians are on site for close to seven hours in total, so a meal, drinks and a spot to rest between sets help. Outdoor performances need cover from the weather.
