About Xtreme Karts Warners Bay

Xtreme Karts runs an indoor electric go-kart circuit on Hillsborough Road in Warners Bay. The track climbs across more than one level, and because it is fully under cover the surface stays dry whatever the weather is doing. Drivers race Sodi RSX2 electric karts with adjustable seats and pedals and a Formula One style wheel. Live lap times appear on three screens for anyone watching, and arcade machines fill the gaps between heats. Arrive-and-drive sessions last eight minutes and cost $30 per driver, with discounts for a second or third run. For a proper event, the private Grand Prix formats give your group the track alone, starting with a qualifying run and moving to standing-start races with points tallied as you go. Grand Prix events need at least six drivers or a minimum spend of $300, and drivers must be 12 or older. With ten karts on the circuit at a time, bigger groups are split into heats by qualifying times. The centre has three function rooms, used for corporate events, birthdays, hens and bucks groups, and teenage parties. Teen packages for ages 12 and up start at $50 per driver for two sprint races plus room hire, pizza, lollies and soft drinks. Adult groups can add pizza or sandwich platters and soft drinks to a race booking. Enclosed shoes are compulsory, and there is a strict no-alcohol rule for anyone driving.

Frequently asked questions

How tall and how old do drivers need to be?

Every driver must be at least 140cm tall. Arrive-and-drive sessions are open from age 10, Grand Prix events from age 12, and anyone under 18 needs an adult's consent on the waiver completed on arrival.

Can our group have the track to ourselves?

Yes. The Grand Prix packages are private events for a minimum of six drivers or a minimum spend of $300, with qualifying, standing-start races and a points score across the sessions.

What should drivers wear?

Enclosed shoes are required, so no sandals or thongs, and long hair has to be tied back. Drivers can bring their own full-face helmet if it meets the Australian road safety standard.

Can we have a drink before we race?

No. The centre has a zero-tolerance alcohol policy, and anyone who arrives affected by alcohol or drugs will not be allowed to drive the karts.

How many karts race at once, and what about big groups?

Up to ten karts share the track in any race. Larger groups are split into smaller heats, and in Grand Prix events the split is based on qualifying lap times.

70 year old rev-head hubby blitzed the 4 of us all & won every race. Couldn't wipe his smile off if I shoved a lemon in his mouth. Said it's the best fun he's had in so long. He's keen for us to go back.
