About Bygone Beautys
Bygone Beautys is a tearoom and teapot museum in Leura, run by proprietor Maurice Cooper OAM since 1992. Thousands of teapots from five centuries fill its display cases, and the tearooms are laid with fine bone china and cotton serviettes, which gives a birthday lunch or anniversary afternoon a characterful, old-fashioned setting. The Traditional High Tea arrives on a tray-mobile, pushed by a waiter in top hat and tails to the strains of Land of Hope and Glory. Its triple-tier stand holds crustless sandwiches, house-made tea cakes and biscuits, and baby scones with cream and jam, served with house tea or coffee for each guest. The Supreme version adds bubbly on arrival (non-alcoholic on request) and a round of warm savouries, and groups may bring their own champagne for crystal flutes. The tearooms seat up to 80, and a party of 20 or more also hears a witty talk about the teapots for free. High tea needs at least two guests, bookings are essential and a deposit holds the table. Children have their own prices, and most dietary needs can be met with a few days of notice, so mention them when you send an enquiry.

Frequently asked questions
How much is the high tea?
The Traditional High Tea is $67 a head and the Supreme is $82.50, with lower prices for children under 12 and under five. A 10% service fee applies on Saturdays and 15% on Sundays.
How big a group can the tearooms take?
The tearooms seat up to 80 guests. High tea needs at least two people, and groups of 20 or more receive an entertaining talk about the teapot collection included in the booking.
Can we bring our own champagne?
Yes. You are welcome to bring champagne, and it is served in crystal flutes for a corkage charge of $4.40 a person. The Supreme high tea already includes a glass of bubbly on arrival.
How long can we stay, and is a deposit needed?
Each table is held for an hour and a half after service begins, and extra time can sometimes be arranged. A non-refundable deposit of $12.50 a person (or $16.50 for Supreme) confirms the booking.
Can the tearooms cater for dietary requirements?
Most needs can be met if you give three to five days' notice. Gluten-free high tea carries an extra charge, and lactose-free is no longer offered for the high teas.
